What is a bequest?
A bequest is a gift specified in your will that provides a way to leave a lasting legacy to others.
Why make a bequest?
To reinforce your belief in the benefits of a diversified education at negs and to play a fundamental role in allowing the school to continue to meet its priorities and goals into the future. To ensure that future generations of young women will have the opportunity to benefit from the foundations laid by those who have enjoyed these benefits in the past.
Gifts by Will, do not attract tax or duties, which make them a most valuable way to contribute financially to the school.
How will my bequest be used?
For well over a century, through generous support, hard work and vision, New England Girls’ School has remained a dynamic learning community that continues to be a well respected school of girls’ education in Australia.
To evolve and progress into the future and to meet the needs that are fundamental to the development of our girls, there are several key areas that you may consider whilst making your Bequest.
All bequests, in whatever form, may only be utilised for which they were intended by the donor, if specified.
If it is your intention to provide a scholarship for a specified purpose, we would appreciate you discussing it with the Principal or Director of Development prior to confirmation.
Bequests can be directed towards a specific outcome such as:
- Contribute to the establishment of a scholarship.
- A fund to assist someone who would otherwise not be able to benefit from an education at NEGS.
- Assist with the ongoing development of our resources. Some examples include library resources, technology upgrades, maintenance of our archives, contributing towards the resources in our cattle, rifle and sporting teams are just some examples.
- Contributing towards the upkeep of our Equestrian Centre.
- A contribution towards our building programme.
- A specific area of your interest.
Organising Your Bequest
We understand that making a Will is a very personal matter. However, if you do intend making New England Girls’ School one of your beneficiaries, or have already done so, it would be a great help if you could let us know. As well as being of assistance for our future planning, it gives us an opportunity to acknowledge and recognise your generosity and to discuss your wishes. Any information you give us will of course be in the strictest confidence.
