NEGS students are able to select the Equestrian Australia(EA) accredited Equi-skills course for an elective subject as part of the year 9-10 curriculum. The course provides students with the opportunity to work towards completion of the theory and practical requirements in introductory and level 1 riding and horse management.
The Equi-Skills course not only provides a solid foundation in riding and horse management, it signs off on two of the components required for the EA introductory coaching accreditation giving students interested in coaching a head start.
Since 2014, NEGS has been offering students and the community several exciting programs in equine education supported by clinics catering through to the elite level competitor.
NEGS competitive and non-competitive riders may select Equi-Sport as a sports elective during all four school terms. The St John’s Riding Program is designed to provide core riding foundations through to discipline specific instruction via group and private lesson formats tailored to the individual needs of the riders. Lessons are available to students commencing in Transition once per week.
My Pony & Me is a custom program designed for our transition students who learn all about ponies and how to look after them.
