Mud Club

It’s expensive work keeping the whole family drinking from hand-made, gorgeously wobbly ceramic mugs – but not when your child is a student at NEGS Junior School. Mud Club is held every Monday between 3.30 and 4.30 in the NEGS Art room and while hands are dirty, they’re also fabulously busy.

The children are provided with a short demonstration and can choose to follow the set plan or simply create their own design. Clay offers our budding potters a lovely sensory experience, as well as building fine motor strength and exercising the hands, wrists and arms. The sociable environment of the club means students can chat as they create, sculpting abiding friendships as well as happy mementos.

Mud Club gives our boys and girls a joyful opportunity to create, and certainly takes off the stress when thinking up grandparent’s birthday gifts.

STEM Club

STEM Club is an empowering and creative way to engage young people with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects. Now for the first time, a STEM Club is offered at NEGS Junior School, in an exciting new co-curricular program.

The role of the Club is to ignite an interest in STEM subjects and provide a platform to extend our students’ learning. Most importantly it is fun, offering the means to explore the subjects with an innovative approach beyond the constraints of daily curricula.

With a range of hands-on activities, this program has been designed to allow our students to learn through construction and exploration with terrific pragmatic channels. It shows students how the scientific method can be applied to everyday life, teaches critical thinking and focuses on the real-world applications of problem-solving.

Beyond piquing students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, our STEM club boosts their confidence and ability to work within groups to combat issues. In an ever increasing, fast-paced world, our future leaders need to be able to come together to solve problems. STEM Club is a stepping-stone towards a bright future, gifting the next generation the chance to boast extraordinary communication skills, coupled with analytical minds. With the rapidly advancing automation of industries and the increasing need for greater infrastructure to sustain a growing global population, STEM Club is setting our children on the path for career success and satisfaction.

Coding Club

Coding Club has been a popular co-curricular activity for our Senior School students for some time, and is now an exciting addition to the Junior School offering.  Coding Club provides opportunities to:

  • learn programming languages like Python and HTML
  • program microcomputers and drones
  • experiment with virtual reality
  • learn how to design apps and games
  • experiment with robotics
  • compete in national competitions
Why Coding?
  • programming jobs are growing at a much faster rate than others
  • half of all programming openings are in industries outside of technology, including finance, manufacturing and health care
  • coding bolsters a candidate’s chances of commanding a higher salary
  • coding builds problem-solving skills, logic and creativity and teaches students how to think
  • Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize Winner “Every girl deserves to take part in creating the technology that will change our world…”
