Mr Anees ImtiazCoonabarabran Horse Expo 2017

Dear All,

I would like to thank everyone who attended Coona Expo 2017. It was a wonderful week, full of laurels, laughter, camaraderie between the girls and amazing parents who made the week even more memorable.

But for those who were not there I wanted to let you know that the school was very well represented with winning nearly every event. We won the Eventing Championship, Dressage Championship, Polocrosse Trophy, Team Penning, Working Horse Challenge, Individual Six Bar Jumping and the Final Two Round Grand Prix Show Jumping.

We also had two girls, Jess Towns and Sarah Wyatt, win the overall in their age group and Charlotte Jacobson who was Reserve Champion in her age group.

We had the second fastest team in the Barrel Racing and second in every class in the Warrumbungle’s Way for each age group.

Sarah Wyatt also won the Pentathlon!

Lastly, I would like to thank my team. I am very fortunate to achieve these results only because I have an amazing energetic team who is as passionate as I am in the success of the NEGS Equestrian Program. Ali, Rachelle, Tara, Rob, Sam, Henry, Gloria, Annie, Roy and Jola you all deserve much more than just a Thank You.

Imtiaz Anees

COONA RESULTS: Polocrosse and Pentathlon

The skill and diversity of talent amongst the NEGS Equestrian team was clearly evident at the North West Equestrian Expo.

The team spirit was high when the division 1 Polocrosse team entered the field through a sideline of avid supporters. The team consisted of Equestrian Prefect, Josie Wilson and year 11 students Jessie Ross and Sophie Wells. The girls played brilliantly throughout the competition, fighting hard to finish with style by bringing home the win for division 1 and the Hirst Family Polocrosse Trophy.

The division 2 team consisted of Madison Teague, Akasha Beresford and Abby Finlayson qualified for division 1which consequently resulted in them versing NEGS division 1. They played a fair game but Josie, Jessie and Soph took the win.

The division 3 team consisted of Molly Michell-Smith, Matilda Hall and Amelia Edmonds. The girls played as a team very well and made it into the second round but were unfortunately defeated before the finals. All these girls are new to the game and showed true grit and tremendous promise for the future.

The competition also showcased a brand new event as a tribute to the 25th year. This was a pentathlon that consisted of five different elements. The elements included showjumping, javelin, flag racing, mountain bike riding and cross country running. The event proved tough and consistency throughout the elements was a necessity. Sarah Wyatt did an exceptional job in all phases and managed to win the girls division!

Once again, we would like to extend our utmost thanks to all our supportive parents, passionate coaches and team members of the Equestrian Centre.

COONA RESULTS: Dressage, Showjumping and 6-Bar

The NEGS dressage and showjumping competitors have once again done a tremendous job at the North West Equestrian Expo. We are thrilled to announce that NEGS has brought home the overall trophy for the best dressage school for the 6th year in a row! Fourteen year old Olivia Ruzsicska brought her A game and won both her elementary tests as well as the freestyle dressage. Our youngest competitor, Charlotte Jacobson also managed to win her division at her very first Coona. All the other dressage riders did a brilliant job and ensured that NEGS would come home with the trophy again!

The show jumpers also had a successful week. Jessica Towns and Sarah Wyatt both rode in the Astronomical show jumping, coming home with placings. There was tremendous pressure on Jessica Towns when she went into the jump off for the grand prix with no rails in hand. She managed to finish with a clear round which lead her to the win.

Anna Campbell claimed the ultimate victory in the Six-Bar being the only rider out of 150 to clear the last round. Anna won the individual by clearing 130cm and Jessica Towns, Ashley Randle, Madison Teague and Sarah Wyatt took 4th place in the teams.

Well done to all our amazing riders, their supporters and their coaches!
