Mr Anees Imtiaz
Dear Equestrian Parents and Students,
Welcome back to Term 3. Hope you all had a lovely holiday!
NEGS is very excited to be hosting our very first official dressage competition on 30th July. We have some fantastic prizes ready and waiting from Equestrian Centre sponsors Kentucky Equine Research and Barastoc, as well as our dressage show sponsor, Ippico! Ippico have generously sponsored many prizes for the competition. Here is a sneak peak of what you could be winning at our event! If you are after any beautiful equestrian products, you can purchase them online at www.ippico.com.au
Entries for the competition have closed. If you have any queries, please contact Rachelle on 04881 83103.
A note to Equestrian Students:
In order to run the event, we will need many willing volunteers. Volunteering at the EC not only shows good will, but does not go unnoticed. We strongly suggest that any students who are applying for prefect positions should ensure that they show their commitment to the EC by helping where needed. If you are riding at the show, then your volunteering time will be scheduled to accommodate that.
On the day, we require pencillers, runners, arena marshals, parking marshals, clean-up crew plus set up the week before and pack down the week after.
Any students that are away the weekend of the show can help with set up the week before or pack down the week after.
We are really excited to be able to run our very own official dressage show, so please show your support. Any hours that you volunteer at the EC can also count towards community service duties.
TERM 3 COMPETITION SCHEDULE:
We are thrilled that the competition season has begun for term 3 and wanted to ensure that all students and parents were aware of some important factors:
Entries close for Liverpool Plains Interschools on the 1st of August, so please make sure you enter by then. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Ali at the EC. In order to have the team stabled together, could all those who have not booked stables yet, please book Hold Ya Horses Yards. If you have already booked a different yard, do not worry. We will try and have the team as close as possible.
For Tamworth CIC ODE in August, AELEC has kindly put aside stables in E block for NEGS. Rather than booking the stables online, could you please call AELEC on 6767 5650 to book your stable. Just ask for a NEGS stable and they will happily book you one. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Twilight competitions will commence in week 2 on Tuesday afternoons.
We are looking forward to an exciting term!
Re-vamping the EC over the Holidays…
During the holidays the Equestrian Centre has had a makeover! Tara has put in an incredible effort sprucing up the EC. She has single-handedly carted edgings and pebbles for a new path, plus wheel- barrows and wheel-barrows of hay and mulch for many new garden beds around the centre, along with an inbuilt sprinkling system for the plants! We now have an area with picnic tables alongside the EC Office for students and visitors to use at their leisure.
The new sponsors’ boards are now up on the hay shed, and look awesome!
Come over to the EC to have a look at the new improvements!
We have also recently mounted international flags in our main arena to represent the staff and students at NEGS who hail from all corners of the globe. We pride ourselves on our multicultural community here at NEGS

NSW Interschools Competition
The beginning of the NSW Inter Schools was a beautiful sunny day at Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
The NEGS team had a brilliant first day of competition. The team took a small contingent of competitors as several riders had already competed at North West Equestrian Expo the week before.
Day one saw three girls place in the top 10 in the EVA105. Sarah Wyatt finished a close 2nd, Matilda McCarroll was 5th and Isabella Arabejo was 10th.
Katie Hancock was our sole representative in the EVA60 and won the class by over 10 points in a very large division.
Ashleigh Lowe rode extremely well in a very competitive EVA 80 class to finish 7th.
Ellen Archer finished 10th in the EVA95 division.
Congratulations to Isabella Arabejo winning the 95 Combined Training at NSW inter schools. She did a brilliant dressage test, scoring 70% and a clear show jumping round to win the class.
Well done to all the show riders who competed. Elizabeth Whythes placed 1st the Led phase with her beautiful horse, JFK JR.
In Working Hunter Secondary, Charlotte Jacobson was 4th in her ridden phase and 7th overall on her lovely gelding, Stoney Creek.
We had an amazing finish! Isabella Arabejo rode perfect tests on her mare, Four Wings Funky Chick, and was overall Novice Champion and overall Reserve Champion at the Elementary level. Isabella was also Combined Training Champion at the event. A wonderful result for the pair who have worked extremely hard this term.
Molly Michell-Smith did some lovely tests and finished 6th overall in the Novice Championship division.
Matilda Hall had two solid tests and was placed 10th overall at the Preliminary Championships.
Charlotte Jacobson did beautifully on her new mount with nice consistent tests.
A great final result at NSW Inter schools with several Champions and Reserve Champions in the Eventing, Combined Training and Dressage.
Well done to all the girls for their achievements. We are very proud of the effort they put in and the results speak for themselves! The level of competition was very high and we would like to congratulate all the girls for doing a tremendous job.
NEGS would like to extend a big thank you to all our wonderful parents and grandparents!

Polocrosse Stars at Narrabri
To kick off Term 3 with some awesome results, our NEGS Polocrosse girls had an amazing weekend last weekend at Narrabri. Some great games were played in less than ideal conditions.
The Narrabri Club hosted the Landmark Junior Challenge which saw some of the best under 16 polocrosse players in Australia mixed into teams to go head-to- head throughout the weekend. This is a nail biting event demonstrating so much talent!
Laura Frear, Abby Finlayson, Akasha Beresford and Grace Brown were all selected to play in this competition.
Laura was in the winning side in the Junior Challenge. Her team ‘KLB Equine’ was undefeated in the competition, winning the A Grade Juniors. Laura was awarded Best number 2 in the grade!
Abby’s team won the B Grade Juniors. She was also awarded best number 2 in her grade!
In the regular Narrabri Polocrosse competition, Torie Fielder achieved the Best Number 2 prize in the A Grade competition!
Such an amazing effort girls, you should be very proud. It is no doubt these girls are improving every carnival!
This weekend we have some girls travelling to Sydney and Cubbaroo Carnivals – watch this space!
