Junior School Sport (K-6)

In the NEGS Junior School we encourage all of our students to develop a love for being active, helping to create a sense of wellbeing and working to create strong, healthy bodies and minds. Every morning begins with a 15 minute fitness session involving circuit workouts, dance and skipping. Something different each morning to help the students start their day.

Our Junior School Students enjoy all the facilities of our senior day and boarding school for girls, which includes access to specialist coaches and mentoring from older students; fostering inspiring relationships between pupils across the year groups and encouraging success.

All students participate in weekly sports as part of the curriculum. The sports offered change each term to give all students an opportunity to discover sports they are interested in and to cater to student interests. These sports include hockey, netball, touch football, rugby union, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, golf, orienteering and tennis.

Junior School students participate in IPSHA (Independent Primary School Heads’ Association) competitions in swimming, cross country, athletics and gymnastics.

Junior School Sport

Sport is part of the foundation of our school. We encourage all of our students to develop a love for being active, helping to create a sense of wellbeing and working to create strong, healthy bodies and minds.

Our junior students enjoy all the facilities of our senior boarding school for girls, which includes access to specialist coaches and mentoring from older students; fostering inspiring relationships between pupils across the year groups and encouraging success.

All students participate in weekly sport as part of the curriculum, enjoying a wide range of activities including swimming in summer, and gymnastics in the cooler months at local sporting facilities.

A range of team sports are available to all students, with NEGS teams featuring strongly in the local netball, hockey and other local competitions.

Our Junior School students are given the chance to compete at several levels, including events held by the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) and within the Primary School Sporting Association (PSSA). Here our boys and girls participate competitively in athletics, swimming and cross country. We also hold our own swimming and athletics carnival with a strong emphasis placed on inclusivity and having a go – all factors that set strong foundations for proactive and positive young people.
