Senior School Sport

It’s time to #playlikeanegsgirl and our regional day and boarding school for girls offers so many chances to throw a ball, pick up a hockey stick, dive in the pool or pull on a rugby jersey. With a plethora of summer and winter sports available everyone can be involved; there’s something on the table for every level, interest and ability.

From outstanding equestrian facilities earmarking NEGS as Australia’s premier equestrian boarding school, to pathways for rifle shooting, rowing, dance and athletics, we take our sports seriously while making sure we are having the most fun! Experienced coaches and teachers are available to support your daughter in her chosen field, reaching her greatest potential on the pitch, in the saddle, on the court or the sporting field.

Breaking ground in a historical first outside metropolitan areas, NEGS offers Talented Athlete Programs (TAP) that provide direct pathways to sporting success in conjunction with NSW Hockey, NSW Netball and NSW Rugby. TAP has a flow-through effect for everyone at the school, creating a culture of sporting excellence.

We want all of our girls to understand the importance of work-life balance and we have built in a nutrition and sports psychology component of the program that will see experts visiting to provide education sessions.

There’s plenty of competitive opportunities both on campus, in Armidale, around the region and at state and national levels. Our girls play within the Independent Girls’ Schools Sporting Association (IGSSA), taking up the mantle against a variety of schools around the state in a number of sporting carnivals and events. This opens up the door to making new mates from schools across New South Wales and the chance to practise performing and competing at new levels with metropolitan schools.
