Sports Scholarship Trials

Supporting the next generation of female athletes

At NEGS, we are passionate about supporting young female athletes to develop their skills, challenge themselves and reach their potential, both on and off the field.

Our Sports Scholarship Trials provide prospective students with an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting ability and potential in a practical environment, while experiencing first-hand the sporting culture, coaching and opportunities available at NEGS.

Led by our Head of Sport, Ms Ella Kenny, the trials are designed to look beyond current results and representative achievements. We are interested in seeing the complete athlete, including skill, athletic ability, game awareness, attitude, work ethic, coachability and potential for future development.

What to expect

During the Sports Scholarship Trials, athletes will participate in practical activities relevant to their nominated sport. This gives our coaching team an opportunity to see each athlete in action and understand how they respond to instruction, interact with others and apply their skills in a training environment.

We recognise that athletes develop at different rates and that sporting potential isn’t always reflected by a list of representative teams or achievements. For this reason, the practical trial provides valuable additional insight into each athlete and what they may be capable of with the right coaching, opportunities and support.

Considering a Sports Scholarship?

For families considering applying for a NEGS Sports Scholarship, participation in the Sports Scholarship Trials can form an important part of the overall scholarship application and assessment process.

A strong performance at the trials does not guarantee the offer of a scholarship. Scholarship applications are considered holistically, taking into account a student’s sporting achievements, demonstrated ability and potential, attitude and coachability, as well as their overall suitability for NEGS.
